Since 1995 we have been dedicated to showing the work of artists in Central New England who have not previously had a solo exhibition. Our mission is to provide a venue for emerging artists and to offer the public the opportunity to interact with artists and purchase original works of art at affordable prices.

Exhibition Guidelines

• To be considered for a solo show, artists must have between 10-20 pieces of finished work, unified by a common theme or artistic process.

• Work to be displayed must be presented professionally and ready to be displayed, including matting and framing where appropriate.

• Artists must prepare a statement to be displayed with their work conveying their intent and/or inspiration for the works displayed.

• The Gallery retains the final decision in the selection of exhibitions and the artwork displayed therein.

• The Gallery Coordinator is responsible for the installation of the exhibition, and retains the final decision in the display of the artwork.

• Exhibitions run for a four-week period. No work is to be removed from the gallery until the close of the exhibition.

• The Gallery will act as an agent for sales of the artwork. No sales of the artwork are to be handled by the artist. The gallery will collect payment (cash or check) for the artist until the close of the exhibition, when all proceeds will be released to the artist by the Gallery Coordinator.

• The artist is responsible for creating a promotional postcard (to be approved by the gallery coordinator) which should be distributed three weeks prior to the opening reception.

• The artist is responsible for hosting an opening reception, to be held in the afternoon on the first Saturday of the exhibition.

• The Gallery Coordinator will distribute press releases to be circulated with CC Lowell’s regular media announcements. The artist is responsible for all further promotion.

• The artist is responsible for donating a percentage of the proceeds from their show to the charitable organization of their choosing. The artist must supply the Gallery Coordinator with a copy of their donation letter and check within two weeks of the close of the show.

FIRST SHOW GALLERY APPLICATION

Please fill out this form and return it to CC Lowell along with at least five sample pictures of your artwork, preferably in digital format (.jpeg) on CD-ROM. The Gallery Coordinator is not responsible for the return of any sample pictures, slides, or CDs.

Once the completed application is received and reviewed, you may be called back for an interview at the Gallery Coordinator’s discretion. Please be advised that interviews are conducted quarterly. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

I, the undersigned, release and absolve CC Lowell, its owners and employees from responsibility for any damage or loss of artwork exhibited in the First Show Gallery @ CC Lowell. I understand my responsibilities as outlined in the Exhibition Guidelines, and will make all reasonable efforts to meet the criteria and timelines set forth by the Fist Show Gallery and the Gallery Coordinator.
